This type of account usually offers the lowest transaction costs, but often has restrictive rules. Retail accounts that require a very high percentage of sales by credit card must be carried out with the “card present” and that the card is “swiped” by passing through a terminal physical credit card. Retail trade are generally associated with businesses such as restaurants, grocery stores and small hotels. This type of merchant account is best for merchants who do not plan on doing business by mail or online at any time.
